The Rotary Club of West Springfield established its own tax-exempt foundation, the "Rotary Club of West Springfield Foundation, Inc. (RCWSF)" to carry out charitable, educational and scientific work in the local community and worldwide in support of the objectives and programs of its charter and that of Rotary International. It is supported by our annual club sponsors, donations and contributions from fundraising activities.
The RCWSF is headed by an Executive Committee composed of Fred Kalema-Musoke, Chair; Bob Harter, Vice-Chair; Joe Frangipane, Secretary-Treasurer; and Doug Alcorn and Brad Center, Directors.
While the largest funding goes to our scholarship program that offers financial support to needy students at West Springfield High School to attend Northern Virginia Community College or local trade schools, the Foundation also provided funds to the following projects and organizations for 2024-25:
- Kristi's Christmas
- Ecumenical Community Helping Others (ECHO)
- ShelterBox
- Backpacks and school supplies for needy children
- Ongoing projects at three local Title 1 elementary schools
- Global Polio Eradication Initiative (PolioPlus)
- Food for local families in need
- Support for Afghan refugee families in our area
- Schools in Sierra Leone
- Water projects in Uganda
- Leadership Mission International project in Honduras
- Teacher Appreciation activities
- First Responder Awards
- Citizen of the Year Award
We sincerely thank the following individuals for their donations to help Afghan families that have settled in our area:
-- Bob Harter
-- Ron Jones
