REVERSE RAFFLE & SILENT AUCTION
The Rotary Club of West Springfield's Reverse Raffle is held every year in the springtime at the Springfield Golf and Country Club on Old Keene Mill Road. Normally we have approximately 300 people attending the dinner, silent auction and Reverse Raffle with a grand prize of $10,000. The event raises funds to support our numerous service projects, such as awarding scholarships to local students, teacher awards, firefighter and police awards, free dictionaries for third-graders, and food donations to needy families. Internationally we support a project to assist with education in Sierra Leone and we also support Rotary International in its worldwide program to eradicate polio.
BRATS BOOTH AT THE ANNUAL BURKE CENTRE FESTIVAL
Our Club has a booth in the food vendor area on both Saturday and Sunday serving freshly cooked brats, hamburgers, fries and soft drinks. All proceeds go toward supporting local community projects.
TASTE OF GREATER SPRINGFIELD - TOGSTM
Our Club launched a new community event called the Taste of Greater Springfield (TOGS) in 2013. More than 12 local restaurants brought their best dishes and participants were able to sample them for one low admittance price. 300 people attended this fun event, which raised money for the projects of our Rotary Club, such as scholarships for WSHS students who otherwise could not attend college, Kristi's Christmas, and education in Sierra Leone, while promoting the restaurants (and beer and wine vendors) that supported us. Our seventh annual event took place at Waterford Receptions in Springfield on October 27, 2019.
Note: These events were not held in 2021 due to COVID-19.
